In 2001, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden was in search of a featured back. He loved his lead back from the previous season but he wasn’t quite sure if that player was his kind of running back. So, he kept looking. Ultimately, versatile veteran Charlie Garner landed in Gruden’s lap, so to speak, which gave

A lot of tread has been worn off those tires.

He is productive, does not miss games and is a great teammate.

If he still wants to be a lead back and carry the load, Gruden is just the coach go give him that chance.

Prefer Gore to than toxic Lynch but don’t want him either. Not really sure why I’m reading about Charlie Garner in 2018 loved the guy but cmon , I continue to be baffled with this talk of Grudens Garner or Grudens Rison. First of all any Raiders signed during his tenure where Al Davis choices sure Gruden has input but nobody was on that team Al didn’t want and I’m pretty sure if Gruden had the first and second rounders back , Tampa would have been a lot younger . Secondly and most importantly we have no idea what Gruden wants in 2018 . Sure he loved vets but that was in past and maybe that was by becessity .Every player every situation different, now unless Lynch retires to be a minister then I guess he would be Grudens Kaufman . What I would love to read about is some younger, explosive players that maybe I don’t that much about not all these over the hill I hope the still have something left players

I would love to see them sign McKinnon out of Minnesota. He is tough enough to run it up the middle and he is special coming out of the backfield as a receiver. Also he wouldn’t break the bank.

Gore had been an above average, solid running back throughout his 13 year career. 13 years! He’s 34! The wheels are going to be coming off sooner than later. Sorry, but I just can’t get aboard with this one. Youth is a huge factor at the RB position. Gore may be an outlier but I don’t think the Raiders should gamble on a player that was born before the internet.
