By now, it’s evident that new Raiders head coach Jon Gruden envisions an offense that leans heavily upon bruising running back Marshawn Lynch and wide receiver Amari Cooper. Lynch has a long history of being able to carry a sizable workload. The jury is out on Cooper, though Gruden is confident that Cooper has yet
Cooper is fantastic. One of the few good picks RM has made, although it was a no brainer, everyone knew Cooper would be a perennial Pro-Bowler. I like how you brought up how young this kid is. He can become of of the all-time great Raiders. I do believe that if he can stay healthy, Gruden will get the best out of him. Yes he had way too many drops, but it’s not like he was the only guy who had club-hands last year. The wheels completely fell off the offense after the Jets game last year, so I’m gonna give Coop a mulligan. But he only gets one
I thought the drops were in issue with Copper in college
I watched several of his games in college when he dropped catchable balls (ex. Game vs LSU) and I thought they were aberrations.
However, it might have been a harbinger of his drops in the pros. He’s got to clean this up
I don’t recall Tim Brown having butter fingers
Tim Brown had soft hands, Coop does not. I would say Coop is more like Jett or Rocket. Maybe they should bring Timmy back to consult Coop and show him how to actually catch the ball.
Cooper has soft hands. It is a concentration issue. He is thinking ahead instead of focusing the ball ALL THE WAY into his hands. He is trying to set up his YAC before actually catching the ball. This is another reason why I think Jordy was brought in – to mentor Cooper but I hope he still got some thread left on his tires and some gas in that tank.
Cooper needs to fix the drop issue. Its that simple.
I don’t care if he puts on weight, looses weight, is more muscular, faster, slower or anything else.
Because all of that makes little difference if the ball hits him in his hands and he cannot make the catch.
