Many scouts believe this is the best running back crop in the draft in years (and last year’s class was dang good). This group is deep. Top running back could be had in third an even in the fourth and fifth rounds. The Raiders are very likely finalizing their plan of attack when it comes

What does Gruden think of Richard, Washington and Hood? That would be nice to know.

I don’t think Gruden is going to bypass a RB who he thinks can be a carry the load, three down guy in round 2 and beyond.

Think he thinks they are backup who need to prove themselves.

If N. Chubb, RB Georgia, falls to the 3rd round, he could be a great value there for us.

In those middle/late rounds, do you draft:

A defensive player who might surprise?

Or a slot receiver who might surprise?

Or an OT who might surprise?

    Or a punter?

Or a RB when it seems as if we have several inexpensive ones who are at least as likely as a rookie to be decent place holders, or maybe even surprises.

We need to “get lucky on a mid round pick” at so many positions, I can’t understand the payoff on spending one of those picks in a RB (or QB). Why? We’re hurting so bad in so many places … at the risk of being repetitive … Why?

As I said above, if Gruden has a RB in mind that he feels can be an every down player, he pounces.

I agree we have a ton of needs, but we have a number of picks on the third day,

I am hoping Gruden gets us better players than RM has.

Plenty of quality depth and maybe a starter or two from day three of the draft would be superb.

Reggie has not drafted a RB early in his tenure. Picking a back 4th round or higher would be unprecedented for him

There’s a need for RB but not as pressing as RT, LB, inside rusher or CB

If I had to guess, I think Gruden realizes that Lynch is not going to go with the team to Vegas and needs to develop a RB to take his place. I was hoping that RB would be Hood so that the team did not feel the need to draft a running back this year, but it sounds like he is not the answer (yet).

If Chubb falls to the third like vet says I would run to the podium. I would also take Freeman or Kelly in the fourth but I think that might be the round they draft the punter from Texas
