As difficult as it might be for the Raiders to pass on a potential impact player Thursday, they should jump at the chance to trade down if they receive an enticing offer. Such is the conundrum that faces a team in the midst of a roster overhaul and in need of more than one impact

Again, who are you giving up?

Most of these moving up teams want/need a QB, picking at 10 should be a premium. Two firsts and a second this year and a first next year.

A big price tag, yes. Considering who you might get…..

Nelson, a once in a decade immediate stud at OG or even RT.

Fitzpatrick, a versatile impact starter who can play several spots (CB, FS, SS, Nickel Back, Blitzer) all at a high level.

Ward, day one potential shutdown CB who tackles.

Chubb, possibly the next great DE, immediate starter.

Smith, starting stud LB who one scout compares to Ray Lewis.

Vea, possibly an even better version of H. Ngata.

Edmunds, a possible stud LB and premier rush end in nickel and only 19 years old.

And have we mentioned that most all of those listed above have no off field issues, no character concerns. They love football and want to be great players.

I still take Fitzpatrick and don’t look back.

The only way I consider moving is by getting, at minimum, compensation I stated above.

Great and valid questions, Philip. Certainly, at least one of those players would be available. Hence, the hesitation to pull the trigger on a trade down. That’s why I say, Gruden and McKenzie have to be realistic about where the team is at in terms of vying for a Super Bowl. If they conclude that they are a year, two or three away, they need more than one player. Tough situation, but a good one to be involved in, as well. Thanks. — Cork

If we do trade back, we still have to hit on our player.

Whiffing on another player or players in this draft is going to hurt this team again.

Even if Gruden agrees that we are a year or two away from a SB run, which we are, we still have to draft the right players, no matter the slot.

This is part of why I am so excited for this draft, wanting to see Grudens input. We have seen what and who RM has drafted and it is a mixed bag to say be kind.

What happens if we do trade back, take the DT from Michigan and he has more medical issues? Is it really to much for a fan to ask that we stop taking guys with questionable medical issues? Or off field issues? Is it only domestic violence that is the line in the sand?

We need good players and plenty of them. Just ask Gruden.

Why would the Dolphins give up a first next year to move up 1 spot?

We could probably pick up a 3rd or 4th rounder by trading back with the Bills at 12 or maybe a pick up a 2nd or 3rd by trading with the Cardinals at 15 if there is a good QB left on the board. I’d honestly like to see us move back a couple spots, draft Vea and then package the #41 pick to move back up into the end of the first round and take an OT or LB.

The Raiders need a couple impact players and I don’t see more than 6-7 of our 11 picks making the squad.
