OK, I change my stance. The Oakland Raiders need NaVorro Bowman. They don’t have any other choice, and that includes Derrick Johnson. It has been my contention all offseason that the Raiders needed to go younger at middle linebacker. They needed to finally address the position with a long-term solution. I disagreed with the reported
Maybe they are wanting to see how Azeem and the other undrafted rookies look at rookie camp. It would be nice if one of the young guys can step up into that MLB role.
Remember Vontaze Burfect was an undrafted player that started quite a bit his rookie season in Gunthers defense.
Can’t count on a seventh rounder. If it happens, it’s bonus
Hearing Johnson has signed. Not happy, the guy is washed up. Why can’t the Raiders just solve the MLB? Rather have Bowman
Yeah thats disappointing they signed Johnson. Dont know if it 100% rules out Bowman still. But it obviously makes it less likely

I liked Bowman in the middle last year – at least a solid player – and would like to see him back but if not, why not Whitehead? He played there for Detroit and although he is no All Pro he is a better than NFL average player with a lot of experience.
James has real promise as a will and Irvin can play on the strong side if necessary (although I’d rather see Bruce at more of a pass rushing end) especially if Key can produce: who knows, Calhoun might even turn up….
Whitehead is the MLB for now. I asked Cork about this in the chat.
Make no mistake, I want Bowman back and think they should have re-signed him long ago.
Is Bowman the best MLB in the nfl? Nope. Is he the best MLB we have had in recent years? Absolutely.
It is almost criminal how bad RM has been in not finding us a MLB. Gruden seems to be heading down the same path. This is a spot we have been horribly deficient in.
Its time to find a long term answer at MLB. Bowman is our best option even if he is a stop gap at this point.
I think Rolando McClain is a free agent… 🙂
Just saw that they signed Derrick Johnson on Twitter . . . smh!
