Raiders head coach Jon Gruden on Tuesday acquired a quarterback he considered a first-round prospect that ultimately was selected in the second round by the New York Jets for a conditional seventh-round draft pick. Got all that? All that matters is, Hackenberg now is a member of the Raiders, who suddenly have four quarterbacks on
Hmm, if the writing is on the wall for Hackenburg in NY, why trade for him? Why not wait to pick him up after getting cut? Cork, do you think that this means that Gruden is no longer enamored with Connor Cook and does not think that EJ Manuel is a good backup to Derek? I thought Manuel was fine last year and always thought that with some seasoning, Cook could be a good number 2. I read a tweet from OTAs today that indicated that Cook was inconsistent (it is only the first practice and there are new targets).
Which of the three QBs has the same traits as Carr? Seems to me that the backup should be the same as the starter. This off season is a real headscratcher for this Raiders fan!
Bill- I’m happy w DL additions and secondary hey HAVE to be an upgrade over last year . In a division of great TEs the LB core seems to be still weak at best . Are they done and set with this group as the core of the defense? Where do you feel the D is overall versus last year ?
Thanks Dave (HB)
Keep up the good work !
In today’s NFL i feel a QB should be a little elusive when rolling out of the pocket when pressured especially in the AFC West. This guy looks to just stay there and take the sack….i bet Emanuel beats him outright. besides, whats the worse that can happen – loose a 7th rd pik and possible QB controversy?
Hackenburg’s demise is a head scratcher.
I’m with Gruden on this. Hackenburg was the #1 recruit in the country a few years ago and did well with O’Brien. I just don’t understand why he couldn’t at least get on the field.
He’s worth bringing in camp and seeing what he’s got
At least it was a 7th rounder.
Many 7th rounders don’t make the team.
