Jon Gruden has no attachment to defensive back Obi Melifonwu other than the fact that the second-year player is a member of the Raiders 90-man roster. Gruden didn’t draft Melifonwu, he didn’t pursue him in free agency and hasn’t relied upon him as a player in a regular-season game. Therefore, Melifonwu would make a nice

Obi is a tweener until he proves otherwise.

If Obi had a set position Gruden might look at things differently.

Cork, I understand your point that Obi may be this Gruden Stint’s Larry Brown, but doesn’t it send a better (bigger, stronger) message to the team if he cuts/trades a more established player? IfGruden cuts/trades Obi, I would think the only message the players may receive is that Obi wasn’t good enough.

If Chuckie REALLY wants to send a message, he should fire Reggie.

Reggie probably will sleep with the fishes in the next year or so.

Hip injuries are nothing to minimize

That being said, a player has to have a hunger to get healthy and on the field

Looks like Gruden hasn’t seen it from Obi
