Teams are required to account for only their top-51-salaried players at this point in the NFL season. For the Raiders, part of that figure includes $13.846 million for defensive end Khalil Mack. The question is, what does a contract extension mean for Mack and the Raiders? Well, let’s start with the Raiders current salary-cap situation.
Great info as usual Cork, thanx.
The question is, then why is this not done already.
I know we covered this in other posts recently. But does it have more to do with the numbers or with the agent? As many have stated, the agent is the same for Mack and Donald. One finger in two pies so to speak.
And when does it get resolved?
Actually, Mack’s agent is Joel Segal and Donald’s agent is Doug France. Beyond that, Philip, thanks for the props. And, to answer your question, this has to do with both the dollar amount Mack and Donald are seeking and the respective agents wanting to wait for the other side to get a deal done. That’s just how these things tend to work out. In the end, both players are going to get paid at least $20 million per year, probably closer to $25 million.
Thanks again for the info on agents. I thought they did have the same agent. Wrong on my end.
I hope its worked out sooner than later.
The faster Mack gets back to the team, the quicker Key can start learning from him!!!!!!!
Yes, Cork! Thanks for providing this information. Sounds easy, but that’s what we all thought about Carr’s contract last year and that one took a while to get finalized.
A lot of times in these big contracts there’s a lot of language in them concerning what the team expects from a PR standpoint from a player as well as what a player can or can’t do in his personal time. Sometimes these issues takes more time to negotiate than money part of it. But what I really think what’s going on here is that you have Mack and Donald’s agents playing a game of who blinks first. I almost garuntee you that if Donald’s contract was done today Mack’s would be done within a week.
