Of all the favorable things that went the Raiders way during their offseason, avoiding injuries to any of their key players ranks near the top. In the NFL, though, it’s only a matter of time before injuries occur and the “next man up” isn’t a viable long-term solution. That’s where veteran free agents become so

Unless he is asking for crazy money, Bowman should have been re-signed early on.

I have to believe Gruden got some inside info from his bro on Breeland. We have brought in plenty veteran DBs. Breeland either wants to much money or Gruden feels he is not worth the risk at this point.

Hopefully needing Hankins never becomes an issue. We do have several DTs on the roster now. I have to believe that is part of why RM gave Ellis that contract.

I know, injuries happen. Hopefully we have enough depth already on the roster. That would mean not having to overpay for a player Gruden felt was not worth bringing in to begin with.

Someone, or several players, will get injured. It’s inevitable.

The question is the quality of the backup behind these injured players. If Raiders have confidence in those backups, you don’t need to sign anyone off the street.

LB depth is a problem. If Johnson gets injured, then Bowman will get the phone call. For the other positions, depth is fairly good. Running back is another position to keep any eye on, given Lynch’s age. Morris might be viable.

Everyone keeps stressing that Raiders should have signed Bowman and not Johnson. If Bowman was so coveted, how come he hasn’t signed with another team by now?
