The Raiders open training camp in a little more than two weeks and play their first exhibition game a month from Tuesday. In other words, the feel-good talk from the past six months is about to be put to the test by the ramped-up action on the field. Everywhere you turn these days, optimism abounds
What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time the questions were about whether the team could be the AFC to unseat the Pats as AFC Champs! This year, the questions abound about quality of the personnel. So many questions, in fact, that Cork can’t list them all here!
Yeah, this is a team with more questions than one would expect, one year removed from a 12-4 season. Yet, that speaks to the massive turnover underway and the fact that the Raiders weren’t a dominant 12-4 team in 2016. They had an easy schedule and won more than their share of toss-up games. On the bright side, it’s fun having so many questions hanging in the balance and knowing the answers are forthcoming in a matter of days/weeks.
New coaches = new scheme, players and especially expectations.
Gruden expects to win now. And what else would you expect him to say?
Plenty of questions still to be answered. The one not address specifically, Carr. It starts with our QB and what Gruden wants and expects him to do.
