Our final post in this 77-player series: 1. Khalil Mack, defensive end: Good news: Mack would be the best player on many teams. Bad news: He and the Raiders are embattled in a contract holdout. Oakland has to figure this one out. The Raiders will go nowhere without Mack this season. 2. Derek Carr, quarterback:
Has anyone gotten an accurate, though not public, statement from Mack or our Raiders about what the contract differs are? Is he asking for 150 million, all guaranteed and an additional signing bonus? Is RM being so hung up on himself, saying he wont negotiate with players not in camp? Did RM offer less than Von Millers contract, which is likely the starting point? Have other teams been asking about trading Mack if a deal is unreachable?
Whatever talent Carr has in him, Gruden will extract. QBs either make it or break under Gruden.
It all starts in the trenches.
Mack deal will get worked out. Patience my fuzzy friends….
