The Raider Nation is in an uproar over Khalil Mack’s future being a national topic this week. Mack, whose hold out from your Oakland Raiders is almost two weeks long, was the subject of many national pundits Tuesday. It started with a benign ESPN post speculating that perhaps he could become trade bait this summer

Said before on this site that the trade price for Mack should at least match that for Herschell Walker in the 1980s or Rickey Williams – an entire draft class. I’d also want a #1&2 from the following year as Mack is a better player and leader than either.
Even if we got that, I’d still be pissed off with Gruden forever if he traded the most extraordinary talent we’ve had since Bo Jackson.
RAIDERS: JUST FUCKING PAY THE BEST DEFENDER IN THE NFL WHAT HE’S WORTH!!!!!!

It would take at least 2 first rounders, 2 second rounders, 2 third rounders and players with workable contracts.

I have to agree with the just pay the man thoughts.

Gruden has no right to be pissed. He is in charge.

Get RM, Mack and reps in the room with you and work the contract out.

Gruden cant have it both ways. He is either making the decisions or he isn’t.

Yes, the price has to be enormous.

For everyone who wants to sign him now. Is he worth QB money, nearly $25M annually ?

Everyone blames Reggie but what if he’s asking price is too steep? Should Reggie hamstring the teams ability to sign others ?

Time to be patient. Mack will sign

And, if we absolutely have to, we can franchise the man for a minimum of 2 more full seasons.

My guess is this will become a key point for the next CBA. I think the players are going to want to, at a minimum, change this to one season if not completely abolish the franchising of a player.

Based on the poor value the Raiders got in the 2018 draft on their trades I wouldn’t put any confidence in a favourable (for the Raiders) Mack trade with this regime. To be honest I don’t trust Gruden either who reminds me of a guy who can be manipulated easy with shiny objects…he is like a cat watching a bright yellow ball of yarn rolling around the kitchen floor. I think any Mack trade would downgrade the team considerably. At some point, you have to settle on a core of players and start to build a team. Mack is a key piece in that. Two first rounders means dick all especially with this team’s draft history. Hoping for the best here and that’s resigning Mack. But would be totally not shocked to see the Raiders make a dumb trade and get poor value in return. Like one first rounder and a dead beat player who is on the downside of his career.

Why is this even an issue? Sign the guy for crying out loud.

Ever seen a team trade a HOF-caliber player after four years in the league? And no, Herschel Walker was not on Mack’s level.

Don’t think I ever recall seeing that, for good reason. He’s not going anywhere.

Bill, here’s a question for you. Why the talk about Mack potentially heading for a trade and none about Aaron Donald who has been trying to get a new deal for two years now?

I agree with everyone that the price to get Mack should be astronomical, but I think it would be silly to trade him. Mack is the type of player that comes along rarely. He also is a good guy, keeps out of trouble, and works hard.

Can’t imagine #52 in another uniform so early in his career.

Khalil Mack IS going NO where. . Aaron Donald , by far a much less Versatile talent , who held out last year & missed the 1st week of the season And Still won Defensive player of the year (Only because he had Much stronger supporting teammates . . ) ? Point is : With Arden Key, Mo Hurst, etc..& from the Las Vegas business angle alone , Mark Davis Will Pay what Khalil wants.
