Everyone expected quarterback Derek Carr to play only one series in the Raiders exhibition opener against the Detroit Lions on Friday night. It wasn’t a surprise that defensive end Khalil Mack missed the game and took his holdout to a new level. It was a given that head coach Jon Gruden would play to the

As someone else posted on another post, if Chris Warren is for real, Doug Martin may be a goner. If Connor Cook wins the backup job, does that mean that the Raiders trade EJ and pick up another QB? I can’t see EJ staying to be third string. I have to say, it was nice to see some results of actual coaching. I would say that Shilique Calhoun is the perfect example of the difference that coaching can make (at least for one game). This coaching staff with last year’s roster probably wins 3-5 more games.

I admit I was high on Calhoun coming out of college.

I thought he would fight for a starting job right away. Wrong.

He was another of RMs busts.

Whoever’s fault, it seems he may be turning a corner.

Only one preseason game. But he looked a lot better in this one than he has since being drafted.

Also, as has been stated in other posts, some of the LB tackling (or lack there of) has been absolutely atrocious.

Want to see if Warren can replicate and exceed what he did this game.

Shilique Calhoun was extremely productive at Michigan State. It’s been a head scratcher that we’ve not even glimpsed that production with the Raiders under prior staff. Another situation similar is Connor Cook, another Spartan

Coaching can make a big difference.

Connor Cook’s performance was definitely a pleasant surprise. Excited about what we’ve seen so far with Warren.
