The Raiders continued to tinker with their 53-man roster Monday by claiming defensive tackle Brian Price from Dallas. He is now the 29th new player from last year. Yes, that much more than half the roster Jon Gruden has turned over. Gone is 2017 seventh-round pick Treyvan Hester, who flashed at times last season. There are currently just two 2017 draft picks on the 53-man roster which, of course, is not good.

Who is he: He is a third-year player from Texas-San Antonio. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by Green Bay in 2016 and spent some time on the roster and on the practice squad.  Dallas claimed him of waivers last September. His season ended in November because of a knee injury. He has eight career tackles and he is 24.

What’s he known for: He has good interior pass-rush skills. Dallas reportedly wanted to re-sign him today, but Oakland claimed him.

Raiders connection: There’s always a connection with this staff. Price actually has two. He played for Oakland defensive line coach Mike Trgovac in Green Bay and Oakland special teams coach Rich Bisaccia in Dallas.

What to expect: Not much right away. He is a develop player with some upside.

Feel bad for Hester – guy was a seventh round pick who always got involved on every play he was on the field.
Guy worked hard and kept his nose clean – which is supposed to be what this regime wants – but now he is off the team and replaced by somebody that the coaches have heard of.
I really don’t know what more a 7th rounder could have done…. hope he lands somewhere that will judge him on his ability and attitude, rather than any “connections”. Good luck Treyvon, this member of Raider Nation wishes you every success…..

Bill, you hit the jackpot as a writer to be covering the Raiders and starting your business this year. Great timing! What a circus. No matter how this turns out, it sure is entertaining! C’mon Chuckie, prove everyone wrong. Let’s do this!

I too thought Hester did a good job.

He played a lot in the preseason and he was a guy who flashed and seemed to be in on most plays.

I saw him run down plays. He gave great effort even on plays run away from him.

Price has upside and seems to be a high effort guys too. We shall see.

Count me as a fan who will be very unhappy if we cut this guy next week. That would prove this transaction as very foolish.

I don’t have a strong feeling that very many people, from ownership on down, on the Oakland Raiders know what they are doing.
