Grudens shine is wearing off quickly.
Trade Carr, start McCarron and pay Mack could have been the way to go.
A few comments:
Negatives
-Bruce Irvin was a rotational pass rusher in Seattle. He should only be a rotational pass rusher. He’s not a starter.
-Cooper is not a top tier WR. He’s good but not elite. I saw the drops at Alabama and warned my fellow Raider fans about this but everyone dismissed this. They are not dismissing the drops anymore.
-Carr is not a top tier QB but getting paid like one. It’s his job to get the team in the end zone. It’s on him. Gruden will have to decide if Carr is the long term answer. I don’t think he is, unless he’s got great talent around him.
Positives
-Guenther and the defense. Guenther is extracting every ounce of production from a defense that lacks elite talent. Kudos to him
-Martavius Bryant and Jordy Nelson showed up.
Playoffs are out. I really want the Raiders to be horribly bad since if they were mediocre we’d hear “Raiders are so close” I want changes. I want a top 5 pick to get an elite talent. Either be really good or be really bad. Setting in mediocrity would only set up further mediocrity.
Time to start scouting college talent. Will Grier anyone? Rashad Gary?

I am starting to agree that Carr is not an elite QB. When the team needs a play, he’s not able to make one it seems. INTs in the end zone are killers and three points when inside the two yard line twice is bad.
Carr has not been the same since the broken leg that ended that season for him.
That’s painfully apparent every time there is any hint of pressure but that 2016 season was a direct product of an OC that knew how to use what he had – Bill Musgrave. Never understood letting him go and keeping Norton.
Frankly Carr and a lot of the offense seem a bit lost in the system and unclear on what they are doing at key moments. Leadership is lacking – Cooper drops the ball at key moments again and where is the verbal rocket from Carr? Got to make it clear this is just not good enough.
Three games into the season, with the Browns coming up at home, and we are all thinking about next April’s draft…. welcome back Gruden….
