Recently, in his postmortem on a lousy 2018 season, Jon Gruden was asked about areas where he thinks his 4-12 outfit needs to shore up. Pass protection was one of the top issues, according to Gruden. That’s not shocking. Oakland allowed 52 sacks in 2018. It was tied for the fifth most in the NFL.

I think Gruden will be looking for a veteran LT. I one hits the FA market, Gruden will try and get him. He knows keeping the QB upright is a necessity. No matter who the QB is.

I also have to think if Gruden does not sign a top FA LT, he will take one in the draft.

I keep saying that if Cable stays, I can see Osemele and Jackson going. I hope Cable is replaced.

Remember that Hudson’s contract runs out after the ’19 season. If Gruden has no intention of re-signing him, should be a no brainer giving him a new contract, we need to draft a replacement C in this draft.

Gruden made moves all season long foreshadowing the possibility that he will make more of them this off season. I agree with you Bill, I don’t see Gruden really moving on from any of the starters. I like Feliciano for his versatility and as a backup.
Cable needs to watch the tape from the 2016 season when this line was dominant and go back to what worked then.

Tom Cable needs to be fired ASAP. If not, no matter who they bring in, the line will be no better than 25th in the league. Cable is the problem here.
