As mentioned previously, there’s a part of me that would love to see the inner workings of my favorite team. I don’t subscribe to HBO (or any premium channels) but would certainly do so if the Raiders are on Hard Knocks.
Conversely, there’s a part of me that wouldn’t want to see this. The biggest concern for coaches are DISTRACTIONS that deviate from the team’s focus. The circus that would ensue from weekly comments from the Raiders, namely Gruden, would facilitate a media circus.
Which part of me wins out? The latter. I don’t want to see them on Hard Knocks. I want them to win and want anything that would impede their ability to compete, even if it”s minor, to be removed. Davis has already gone the extra mile in playing in London yearly. Davis has even gone on record stating “I’m willing to fire Gruden and then hire him back” (to avoid being on Hard Knocks). Teams with new head coaches are exempt from Hard Knocks.
No more distractions!
I agree with Ghost.
The winner in this is HBO.
Yes fans get content they rarely ever get to see.
But if it has a detrimental effect on the team, we don’t want that.
I am reminded of the old adage about seeing how the sausage is made.
Camp and preseason is supposed to be a time for the team to come together.
