Coming off of a stellar 2018 campaign with the New England Patriots at left tackle, Trent Brown is now moving back to his original position on the Right side of the line, a move he knew he was ready for.
“It is what it is. I knew all along I was going to be placed where they needed me, and I was fine with the decision.”
Originally playing right tackle with the San Francisco 49ers, Brown made the transition to Left and said it was harder to switch then, rather than now.
“Yeah that was more of a transition than it was coming back to right. I definitely had to get my reps in, get my work in. it took some time, but I got comfortable over there. I think I could play either side comfortably now.”
Oakland Offensive Coordinator, Greg Olson, talked about the decision to move Brown back to Right Tackle, rather than keep him at Left.
“It’s just a decision that we’ve made at this point. It’s about both of them, really. It’s about Kolton [Miller] and Trent. Certainly, we had a chance to study Trent before when he was in San Francisco. We’ve seen him on both sides. We’ve had a chance to have Kolton, obviously, on the left side, so that’s where we’ve started this Spring and we feel good about that move right now.”
Brown is an athletic tackle with the capability to move around on either side of the line and succeed at doing it. With his athleticism and ability, this signing will prove to be the right decision once the Regular season begins and with his veteran presence, he is more than capable to help Kolton Miller and other younger players how to succeed at their positions.
