Not putting all the blame on Jacobs not making it past the goal line. The o line did not get enough push and GB knew he did the same jump against the Bears. I give Jacobs an A and included in that grade is him coming back into the game after appearing to be injured again. The dude is a tough guy too.

I am tempted to give the TEs an A+. I don’t know what else that group can do to win games for us. All three have been key in the passing, blocking and ST play.

I think Joyner has been the biggest waste of money as a FA thus far.

Must give a ton of credit to Gruden and Cable. I have been as tough as anyone on Cable. If Brown is able to play in this game, I think it would have been a game won on who had the ball last. We could have been even better in the run game and a TD would likely not have been taken off the board due to Sharpe’s penalty.

There will be plenty of turnover again this offseason. Duh, I know.

Any trade deadline info you are hearing Cork?

      I forgot this.

We signed a LB from the Rams PS a while back, Dakota Allen. Is there a specific reason that he is not being given some snaps on D? What would that have hurt yesterday? Especially toward the end of the game when it was out of reach.

I would not have knocked Jacobs for not getting into the end zone on his second straight leaping play. The first one from two yards (+) out was not a smart play call, IMHO. Then calling and running the same play again after GB saw it on film from the Bears game and the play before, was not smart either. I would have done a play action fake. The defense was terrible! I can’t tell if it is personnel or coaching. (I vacillate between the two often).

Frustrating game because, as a fan, you can see that the offense could have kept the Raiders in the game. If the team stays close, who knows what happens at the end and who would come out on top. Yet, Carr makes a mistake he made two years before and throws another INT in the end zone when the team is inside the 5 yard line.
That puts way too much pressure on the defense–maybe they started to do too much which of course makes matters worse.

Good assessment, Cork. Two comments: (1) Carr needs to stop trying to be Brett Farve (he’s not) and accept that he can be Alex Smith–a really good game manager who doesn’t screw up and can occasionally make a play; (2) Cle Ferrell may be the worst Top Five pick not named JaMarcus in the franchise’s history. The dude had 0 tackles, 0 assists, 0 sacks and 0 pressures yesterday. He was singled up all day and never disengaged from the lineman. Other than the one coverage sack in Week 1, he’s been invisible. Its not Cle’s fault he was overdrafted by Mayock, but c’mon, man–make a play. Any play. Please.

Reports are that Conley is being traded to next weeks opponent, Houston. That tells you all you need to know about what our Raiders think of him.

Got a third round pick back. Too bad, he was looking ascendant at the end of last year. Weird how he fell off.

No need to worry about him anymore. Houston, they’re hurting in the secondary too. Maybe the Raiders can take advantage of him, if he plays. And, if Conley plays poorly, Houston then can trade him to the next Raider opponent.

Rumor has it that Conley will get an opportunity to play more man to man which suits his skill set better than zone. So, he may actually flourish in Houston.

As Gruden wants to see the younger guys, Mullen, Johnson and Nixon, I don’t think there is any change coming to the scheme or our DC. But its definitely possible that the DB coach could change again. Same goes for DL and LB coaches.

Defense is not much better than last year

Ferrell = looking like a bust. That was a pick for Guenther. Hope Mayock can push back on coaches next year. No pass rush after entire off season to rectify.

    – LBs are below average
-Secondary troubles exacerbated by no pass rush

I’m not sold on Carr. He can’t make the same mistakes like the fumble similar to 2 years ago

Throwing shade on Jacobs for not making the goal line is quite a bizarre and unfair statement in my opinion. The guy is balling out every week, and in my opinion he deserves an A. Of all the things to pick on you bring up the failed gamble on the goal line? Wow.

Jacobs and Waller are right now our best players and its not even close. Although one could argue a few offensive linemen have been really good too.
