In some ways it felt like 2017 again with receivers coming wide open against our secondary…a step slow and out of position. Looks like Gruden and Mayock decided to stay the course and forego the trade market…opting to save their picks for next year. I guess I’m okay with that. Here’s hoping Brandon Marshall can give us a lift, but I’m not holding my breath. Joyner is a play maker one moment and seemingly a misfire the next. That’s frustrating. Looking forward to seeing what we can do the second half of the season.

Joyner has yet to make a play this season. The fact that he’s the highest-paid player on the defense is depressing, as that money could have been spent elsewhere. And on that note, wouldn’t Josh Allen have looked a lot better in silver and black than Clelin Ferrell? The dude is the second coming of Tyler Brayton–he slow-dances with the o-lineman every single play.

Joyner should be playing safety, not covering in the slot. LB corp is showing what happens when you don’t invest in it. When was the last impact LB drafted by the Raiders, Kirk Morrison?

Totally agree about Ferrell similar to Tyler Brayton. They are both not explosive. When you aren’t explosive and can’t bend the edge at end, you are average to below average in the NFL. I don’t get it. I saw Ferrell in the NCAA Championship and quickly perceived he was not explosive and was strictly a power rusher. How is that not hard to see? I’m not a scout obviously.

Okay, I get that Gruden runs the offense, but he should share some of the blame for the defense since he refuses to pay attention to that side of the ball personnel-wise. Other than that, can’t really fault Cork’s grades. Although, one minor quibble, the drops by Williams did not appear to be on Carr.

I agree Gruden is responsible for both sides of the ball, I do see that he has tried to address the lack of talent though.

      Brought in Burfict.
Same for the FA bust of the year Joyner.
      Re-signed Hankins.
      Signed Marshall.
      Lawson too.
      Add Mauro also.
      Whitehead.

Burfict was tossed for the year. Debate it all you want, the NFL made an example out of him.
As stated by many, Joyner = BUST.
Hankins has played a ton of snaps, good or bad. 323 snaps vs 485 total D snaps = 67%
      Marshall was cut. Now re-signed.
Lawson was suspended and has done nothing to warrant his roster spot yet.
Mauro has had almost no production either.
Whitehead with a ton of snaps too but, again, not a huge impact. 438 snaps = 90%

But then there is the draft. Ferrell, Abram, Mullen, Johnson, Key, Crosby, Hurst and Hall.

Gruden and Mayock have addressed the D side, but those players have not produced as most fans, or coaches, have hoped for thus far.

Does Josh Allen play the same position as Ferrelll? Thought he played OLB rather than DE. Agreed that he ain’t doing much but he seems like a high character guys so perhaps it’s wise to give him an off season to see if he can figure it out.

I agree. Give Ferrell an offseason to improve instead of calling him a bust. Look what people were saying about Miller last year and he is looking great this season.
