For the second straight offseason, speculation is rampant about whether the Raiders are going to stick with Derek Carr as their quarterback. That remains to be seen, of course, but RaidersSnakePit is ready to with a story that supports Carr remaining with the Raiders in 2020. This story is courtesy of Ray Aspuria, who is
I hear you. I get all the reasons. They are all reasonable and without a better alternative to Carr, leads me to believe he will be back. I don’t believe Carr is the QB to lead the Raiders deep into January but in the short term, there are no better options.
Agree, “Ideal Bridge.” Ted Nguyen of the The Athletic wrote a pretty good article on Carr’s strengths and weaknesses (which made me nod my head more than once). It highlights why many fans (like myself) are frustrated with Carr. He has all of the physical and mental tools, he just seems determined not to use them. Nevertheless, Carr will be the QB next year, I believe because it would be dumb to off load him and start over. The Raiders should look to improve at the QB position, but not at the expense of offloading Carr before his replacement has convinced he is ready to take over.
Everyone waiting for the perfect QB. A bunch of fans in Miami couldn’t wait to see Tannehill go. A bunch of fans in Minnesota wanted Cousins gone earlier this season and even some of his own receivers seemed to agree.
Put a better team around the guy. Wanna bring in a backup? Great. But this team needs more receivers who can run fast AND catch balls that are right in their hands, and a slew of playmakers on D. Carr is nearly the least of my worries.
So the argument is he’s just mediocre enough to keep some of the games close? This is not the Raiders philosophy of my youth, this much I know.
