Jon Gruden is in his third year of rebuilding the Raiders. Suffice, his vision of what a Super Bowl-contending roster should look like bears little resemblance to that of ousted general manager Reggie McKenzie and head coach Jack Del Rio. So much so that, by the time the Raiders kick off the 2020 season in
As many of us have stated, like it or not, there is still plenty of work to be done on the roster.
If Gruden thinks that our D is going to be more productive with basically the same players next season, I think we all know how that will turn out.
I have read over some of the latest mock drafts and from their viewpoint it is possible that Jeudy will be there at 12. If that is the case, I say take him and run. Maybe even pick up Ruggs at 19 if available. I know, crazy talk, but that would give all those who just want a #1 WR for Carr an end to that complaint.
Then move to the D side of that ball from there on out. This is a deep draft and not having a 2nd rounder sucks. I have to think that Mayock would move back with the 19th pick if he is offered a decent deal from a team looking to get back into, or just move up in, the first round. If last years draft is any indication, Mayock will find us starters with all three third rounders even if we don’t move around.
Grudens first draft still has question marks for sure. But seeing what they did last year gives me a ton of hope for this year.
I would love to fly out for the draft and be involved in everything Raider. Not likely to happen but I am curious to know if the other posters on here had the option, would you go too?
Will you be there Cork? Maybe the chance of a chat that day? At least a thread for all of us to rave or bitch about the picks. 🙂
I’d go for the draft, Vet – who knows if or when it will ever come back to be hosted by the Raiders again?
I’m pleased that we are hosting as I feel the league has been marginalizing the team, almost airbrushing us out of the official histories of e.g. the merger and continuing to snub many of our great players who deserve HoF recognition. Maybe this is the start of some better times in terms of respect and more equal treatment, now we are in this new market.
On a similar point I will be making the long flight from the UK to the fantastic looking new stadium in the next few years. I feel really sorry for the Oakland fans who have had scant reward for their loyalty but this move is an essential part of the team’s modernisation.
A chat on draft day sounds like a great idea and no doubt we’ll all be having our say in FA too…..
I’ll be in Vegas the same weekend of the draft, but not going for the draft. I understand from Twitter that there is a Raider Draft party being organized in Vegas.
Most of the Chiefs players are on rookie contracts after they sign The Muppet of KC to 43 million a year some of the other very good players will want to get paid. The problem will be drafting better players than Reid does. It can be done but it won’t be easy.
Not sure why this posted again
