Nick Bosa or Maxx Crosby? Heck, Raiders came close to having both stud defensive ends

The fact that people are even worked up about whether 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa or Raiders end Maxx Crosby is deserving of NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year serves as validation that Raiders head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock pulled off one of the draft’s biggest heists. Hopefully Crosby rounds out his game starting next season and is a force on all downs. He seems to have that in him. His desire and seemingly endless motor are traits that should allow him to be a complete and impactful DE for years to come. All with our Raiders hopefully.

And will Ferrell do what he said at the end of the season by becoming a completely different player who we wont recognize? Agree with the pick or not, that’s likely what all of us fans are hoping to see.

Ferrell was a reach. When I watched him in the NCAA championship before the draft, I saw the stiffness and obviously I’m not a scout!

You don’t pick players at #4 overall to be “solid.” You expect them to be elite. Ferrell will not be elite. That’s my prediction and if that’s the case, it’s a major fail by Gruden and Mayock. I believe it was a pick for Guenther. Hope Mayock learns from it, which I believe he will.

Hmm, a transcendent defensive player . . . you know, the ones that are hard to find.

I think Crosby will get better. I also think that Ferrell will get better, especially if the talent around those two improves immensely. I don’t think Ferrell will ever be as good as Bosa and I am not sure Crosby will really reach that level.

I disagree, Ghost, I think that Ferrell was a Mayock pick, not a Guenther pick. Remember how Mayock kept saying how they were seeking to stack the roster with “character” guys.

Going to be interesting to see what the Raiders do in this draft. I hope they find a way to get a second round pick.

So you are saying that Bosa having the best defense and best d-line in football was no help at all. Bosa is a very good player the question for him was injurys. Crosby was on a island stop him and that’s it. We know who was 2nd on the team in sacks with 7 and who was the next sack master on the Raiders? Sure Mad Maxx should have done more but this comparison is a one year deal wait until he gets help. Middle push changes the game
