With free agency a little more than a month away, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock are mapping out their strategy for how best to use their salary-cap space. That figure is expected to increase in the coming days, with three moves looming. As of now, the Raiders are sitting on

Jackson was hurt most of last year, and when he did return he didn’t play at a high level. The question is whether Good is capable of replacing Jackson at a much lower cost. I would be in favor of doing so if he can.

I think Whitehead should go. Not an impact player. Can be replaced. Need an entirely new LB Corp. Calling Cory Littleton and Joe Schobert via FA!

Steve your last sentence inferring that a move to cut or trade Carr is not likely to happen, flies in the face of your article a few days ago about Gruden working on upgrading the qb position and don’t be surprised if they moved up for Tua. What gives? Why the about face all of a sudden?

No about face. Just because Gruden wants to upgrade, doesn’t mean that he will be able to make it happen. If Gruden gets a shot to get the quarterback want, Carr is gone the same day. So, no different than what I have written for two years now. Gruden would have ditched Carr last year if he could have gotten his hands on Kyler Murray. Only a matter of time. Trading up for Tua is a possibility, not something that Gruden fully controls. The Dolphins might beat them to the punch or Washington might opt to hold on to the second pick.

Really Murry and change the offense to a college type no thanks.

Whitehead is the easiest cut. Even rookies will likely end up being an upgrade over him. I don’t see him having much trade value.

Harris being cut would make the least sense to me. As stated, a key backup and STer.

Cutting Jones would be just another in a long line of wasted draft picks. Sheeeesh

But, if we do manage to get a high level key FA or two signed and the cap gets a little tighter, I wont be surprised at anyone on that list moving on.

I still think Gruden will trade Carr if a decent offer comes around. And maybe they can get something for Jackson too?

Gabe puzzles me. One of my favorites and I’d hate to see him go, but he got beat a lot last year, it was weird to watch. I’m guessing he came back from his injury too soon, it it’s the second year in a row he’s been injured. Hope he can get healthy and stay that way this year!

I would like to see Gabe Jackson back. I, like some others, think he returned too soon from injury. I really don’t understand what the team has been doing with WRs the past couple of years. Forgetting the AB debacle which I don’t really blame the team for, it seems the team keeps trading for or going after receivers only to cut them or get rid of them. For example, I know Trevor Davis had a bad game, but I thought cutting him after that bad game was a bit harsh, especially since he was younger and made Dwayne Harris expendable. I’m not sure I’ve seen enough of Zay Jones to say whether he deserves a roster spot (and I was kind of hoping Doss would make some plays).
Whitehead can go. I’d like to see Erik Harris back, but the Safety room is getting crowded.
Sometimes I wonder if Gruden even knows he has to field a defense. Seems like all he cares about is the offensive side of the ball.
