A report Saturday said the NFL draft is going to be moved from late April to mid- to late May as a result of the coronavirus. It’s also likely that free agency won’t start next Wednesday, as planned. That’s going to affect how the Raiders and other teams approach their offseason maneuverings. In particular, Raiders

Time to “flesh” out? Flush is my guess as to what you trying to write.

I sure hope all those people who made plans, took off work and made reservations for hotel and or flights don’t get screwed over to much with all these uncontrollable changes being implemented.

I am hopeful that all of us in Raider Nation are safe and well.

Still not sold on Brady coming here unless we give him crazy money, a number that just blows up the market. Maybe a 45m/yr fully guaranteed kind of crazy. All the eggs in one basket idea, because that is likely all we could afford at that point.

The vote for the new CBA was closer than I thought it would be. Seems like the owners were right in wanting this done quickly, more time may have convinced the masses to vote it down.

Still do not understand why we cant just play all 53 each Sunday! I have to think that would cut down on injuries just from the standpoint of some players not needing to do double duty on O or D and then playing STs too.

This time, no correction needed. The proper usage is “flesh” out. It’s a common mistake, along the lines of people writing “chomping” at the bit, when it’s actually “champing.” Same goes for pom-pon. It’s pom-pon and NOT pom-pom. That’s my style lesson for the day, Philip. Thanks for looking out, as always. — Cork

The NFL draft back in the 1930s was held in December. For many years was held in the Dec and Jan timeframes before moving to April.

I would argue if we did an analysis, the accuracy of finding pro players hasn’t increased even with the increased time between the end of the season and the draft. All teams have tape. They can continue to watch and evaluate.

Tannehill just resigned with the Titans. One less team in the Brady sweepstakes.

Hey Cork (and others who may know), a question somewhat related to the article: When a team trades picks during the draft, do they let the team they are trading with know who they are targeting? I was thinking if the Raiders sought to trade back from 19 to go get a certain player would they ask the team trading for #19 who they are picking to make sure that the team is not going to take the player they want? Or, do the teams have pretty decent ideas about who each team is looking to get in the draft?

Oftentimes, yes. It’a courtesy to let that team know that you’re not moving up to draft, say, Player A, in case the team you’re trading with wants Player A and can get him by trading down one spot.

Thanks, Cork!! I thought that may be the case. Seems like it would be poor form to draft the player that a team is trading back to get! 🙂

I saw only three teams have spent less on defense than the Raiders, and they all have poor records (AZ, NYG, TB). Time to ratchet things up if you ask me!
