Trent Brown has blocked for Tom Brady for one season and Derek Carr for one, as well. That’s enough apparently for Brown to know which player he would prefer playing quarterback for the Raiders next season. On Friday, Brown told Bill Williamson of sbnation.com that he is eager to play with Brady again, which is
Well, we will find out in a few days if there is any truth in the rumours of Brady being on Gruden’s wish list. I think that even if he is, Brady is too smart and eager for another Ring to come and play on a team that has no D to take on Mahomes twice a year.
As part of his job that pays him over $20 million a year, Carr is just going to have to deal with the fact that not everybody is head over heels with him. He gets paid that huge amount to do his best and that’s what he has to do – it’s called a professional attitude. Nice to be loved but if you can’t have that, earn your money by playing with a chip on your shoulder and not whining or sulking. You could be on an assembly line or cleaning toilets all day!
All great points, especially the part about having a professional attitude. If Carr is bothered by the perception, he can change it by playing at an even higher level.
I don’t know, I kinda think that Brown’s comment really has no real bearing on Carr. Who wouldn’t want to play with Brady who has five rings, is supposedly an intense competitor, and an obvious winner. I would venture a guess that Brady is a pretty good team leader since he seems willing to do whatever it takes to try to get his team a W. I just would not like to see him in Silver and Black.
Understandably, Carr will likely take these comments and those of Josh Jacobs about Brady personally. Honestly, if Carr wants this type of noise to stop, then he should do something about it on the field to prove that he belongs in the “elite” conversation.
Not to be that guy, but Brady has 6 rings. For sure though I agree with you that Brown was saying in general terms that anyone would want to play with the greatest ever. To Steve’s point though, he could have said “who wouldn’t, but we have a great QB here now” or some such nonsense if he was backing the guy we are stuck with now.
This is the “thin skinned” issue again.
The players, just like fans, have seen Carr throw the ball into the ground or out of bounds on 4th down when the game is on the line. Who is it exactly that would or should be happy about that?
Brown said nothing derogatory about Carr. He did not say “well Carr just plain sucks”. He offered an opinion of something that MIGHT possibly happen in the future.
I have said this many times and it pains me to do so, but it seems to me that many in todays society feel that “its only free speech if you agree with it” and that is just not the case. Many people seem to be looking for a reason to be offended.
Personally I don’t think Brady will want anything to do with our Raiders. But offering up 35m + no tax could change that.
I agree. Brown said nothing derogatory towards Carr.
We expect players to talk like politicians.
What is the status of Brown”s Domestic violence charges. Brown may be replaced as all players on losing teams that get paid top dollar should be looked at. As for Brady he ended Grudens 1st tenure with the Raiders. I would not be happy with Brady getting all that money and the Raiders having less money to spend on defense.
I have no problem with Mayock’s comments towards his entire roster. It’s you guys in the media creating the narrative that Carr May be on his way out. I know it’s a slow time of year but you shouldn’t turn to Lazy reporting or Click Bait to get people to read your stories.
