Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo to the Raiders and other teams Monday informing them that head coaches and general managers are to operate from the confines of their own homes during the upcoming draft. That means that head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock will be forced to do their huddling virtually
Roger can be such a moron at times.
He really believes that Gruden and Mayock, as well as other HCs and GMs, cant get tested and have the results so those two particular people can be in one room together? Or even in separate rooms with a window in between.
Quarantine them for 14 days, together or separate.
If other teams opt to do what Roger says, so be it. Give them the options.
Agreed. Be in the same building, perhaps, just in separate rooms where you can see other’s face, read their lips, hear their words, etc. Not that difficult.
Better hope everybody’s got fiber-optic lines installed. Can’t afford any bandwidth issues when the clock’s tickin’ down!!! 😯
And don’t be using Zoom…..don’t want to get hacked just when its your turn to be on the clock!! 😂
I think it would important to add time between team’s selections to account for the onerous nature of communicating virtually, making decisions as a team virtually and account for any issues with technology.
It might be that Commish doesn’t want to get into answering questions on why they are allowed special exceptions especially in shelter-in-place States. The optics of such a move would indeed look bad for the NFL. With our technology and the myriad of platforms available for video conferencing, multi-party audio etc., this shouldn’t be too difficult to pull off. Teams will have plenty of time to run thru various scenarios and conduct practice sessions so when the days arrive, most issues should have been practiced many times over. Potential trades given certain scenarios I’m sure will already be discussed. I ‘m sure we’ll read about the trade deal that fell thru because of this or that, or selections that might have been changed if only..but at the end – the teams that prepare the best and have their stuff together will overcome and do great. Let’s hope one of those teams are dressed in Silver and Black!
Bingo, Ben. You can bet that multiple I.T. guys are spending today, tomorrow and perhaps the rest of the week in the houses of Mayock, Gruden and others making sure that the proper video equipment, wireless, etc., are installed and tested well in advance of the draft. This isn’t the 1980s.
