Raider Nation’s disdain and disappointment in a rice paper-thin defense was a point of contention for the majority of the 2019 season. There were flashes of brilliance, but those were fleeting. And thus, when the season came to a merciful end and the Las Vegas Raiders personnel men had time to evaluate, it was no
Burfict should not return to the team. Don’t need to explain, since reasons have been covered at nauseam.
Willie Gay lacks instincts and there were behavioral issues at MS State. Nonetheless, worth a late round pick.
Here’s another possibility: Wyoming LB Logan Wilson.
-Rangy, instinctive LB. He was a finalist for the annual Butkus award. I would keep an eye out for him on draft day.
And another bonus possibility: Texas Tech LB Jordan Brooks.
-Had a shoulder injury but did very well at the Combine. Dude is fast and packs a wallop.
I hate to be the downer here, but not all FA signings work out. Joyner as an example.
Kwiatkoski has not been an every down player year after year. We need a quality backup who could become a starter if needed. I am not big on bring Burfict back, but if he is willing to compete for that job and teach if he is the backup might not be the worst plan.
I agree with Ghost on Wilson and Brooks.
I like OH ST Malik Harrison and LSU Jacob Phillips. Harrison is talented enough to be a starter day one. Phillips might need a little more seasoning, but he could be a standout on STs to start. They are plenty fast, both running 4.66.
While I am always partial to a Cal Bear, Evan Weaver is a bit stiff and would often get caught up in the “wash” when trying to make plays. He certainly is a character guy, has a constant motor, as you say, a tackling machine. I’d rather see the team draft a little higher for this position, despite having addressed it in FA. Depending on how the draft board shakes out in the first round, I would not be unhappy if the Raiders draft Murray or Queen at 19.
