The rampant offseason quarterback rumors involving the Raiders were much ado about nothing — apparently. Despite head coach Jon Gruden not outright shooting down the rumors — leaving many to believe replacing Derek Carr was imminent — there was no grand acquisition made. There’s no Tom Brady in Silver & Black. Carr remains the starting
Question for Cork, Ray, and everyone: If the Raiders draft a QB this year (I am expecting it to be in the third round–maybe second if they get a pick or two in that round), who do they keep between Kizer and Peterman? I thought Mayock was high on Kizer when he was coming out and Gruden seems high on Peterman. Seems to me that whoever they keep may be an indication as to how much they like or are not sure of Carr since (as I see it), Kizer is more Mariota-ish and Peterman is more Carr-ish in terms of style of play.
Remember Peterman was hurt last year, that was a big part of the decision. If he was was not on IR, I am not sure Glennon would have stayed on the roster.
If Carr and Mariota are both on the roster, maybe we only carry 2 this season?
I think I remember reading that Petermans, as well as other tendered players, becomes fully guaranteed at some point soon too.
I like James Morgan, as a developmental prospect from FIU. NFL arm.
