All offseason, Las Vegas Raiders general manager Mike Mayock harped on the team’s wholehearted belief in quarterback Derek Carr. And while head coach Jon Gruden — who holds a doctorate in trolling — wasn’t as boastful as Mayock, it’s quite clear the head coach and GM are all about getting the most out of their

Like it or not Gruden is going to run the ball.

More than he should? Depends on your thought process.

At the end of the day, W’s are what its about. I dont care how we get there, as long as we get there.

If Gruden needs Carr to throw the ball 45 times one game and then run Jacobs 40 times the next, my guess is he will do just that.

    Just win baby.

      Indeed.
Gruden’s MO even from his first Raiders tenure has been: Pass to build the lead, run to protect it.
I’m intrigued to see that continue with the new additions to the offense.

It may seem old fashioned but I’m a big fan of a strong running game – especially in our division where long drives on the ground will keep the ball out of the hands of opposing offenses.
That said, we need to be able to make other teams have to second guess and that’s why this draft might just give us the final pieces we need to make all of Coach Gruden’s scheme work. We now have deep speed and run after the catch from Ruggs, a strong outside presence and ability with Edwards to go with a strong TE group and running game.
Our preference might be to pound it out on the ground or play short passes but we now potentially have the other options we have desperately needed to change during games. The lack of ability to make half time adjustments has been a failing for too long – no excuses with all these new and different weapons and an O line that should be able to keep Carr upright long enough to make the plays.

Agree with all of the above! No more excuses, time to get WINS! Having a strong run game opens the passing game and vice versa. Keep defenses guessing and they can’t just go all out to sack the passer. Now, the defense needs to decent and not terrible to give the offense more touches of the ball.
