Yes, he’s at the ripe age of 38. But don’t be surprised if veteran tight end Jason Witten gets his share of snaps this coming season for the Las Vegas Raiders. Not only does Witten fall into Jon Gruden’s beloved “established veteran category,” Witten also happens to be in the Raiders head coach’s most-beloved position

The signing of Jason Witten was the most surprising FA signing in the off season. We’ll see how much juice has left.

Raiders have strong talent in the FA position.

-Waller: great surprise in his first full time role as TE. Very Fast, good hands
-Moreau: Nice suprise as a late round pick. More athletic than people give him credit for
-Witten: Future Hall of Famer. Will be able to contribute in spots.

WR and TE positions shaping up nicely.

I will not put it past Gruden to keep 4 TEs.

Having Bowden develop quickly as a RB/WR could be the key in making that possible.

The signing of Witten is akin to me to the signing of the Nelsons (Jordy and Reggie). Witten will bring a leadership presence that was likely missing from the TE room because everyone there was so young.
