Only 11 teams have an easier schedule than the Raiders this season, at least in terms of 2019 won-loss records of teams’ upcoming opponents. Things got a tad more difficult Sunday, though. That owes to the New England Patriots signing veteran quarterback Cam Newton to a one-year contract, a move that makes Newton the odds-on

Happy for Cam finding a team, given the amount of work he’s put into getting healthy.

Not happy for Patriots. Yet, many other teams had an opportunity to sign Newton and didn’t.

I realize that the lack of pro sports will lead to excessive discussions on anything that crosses the wire. Yesterday and today clearly proved that point – Cam and Patriots ad nauseam.

Nearly everyone had the same take – Billicheat strikes again, Cam makes the Patriots so much better, Oh the Pats are still the smartest team in football, and of course… think again if you thought the Patriots were a win for your team lol.

Well.. my take is this — Cam looked shot last year. He looked like a shell of his former self. Injuries have certainly taken their toll and unless he drank a magic potion, he’s not going to suddenly turn into the Pro Bowl caliber QB he once was.

If reports are accurate, the Patriots were the only team to offer him a contract. A contract for the absolute minimum.

I still have this game with a big W next to it – and a footnote that points to the following -” Hence, what looked like a winnable game for the Raiders now has more of a look as a game the Patriots have the edge”
