Raiders’ revamped receiving corps closing ground on Chiefs for best in AFC West

For the third straight season, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden has made major changes toward bolstering his team’s receiving corps. He appears to have succeeded this time, though the Raiders lag behind their divisional counterparts.     Wide receiver corps should be vastly improved. The one pick that intrigues me is Edwards from South Carolina. Big physical receiver.

      Absolutely. If Ruggs III and Edwards both pan out, the Raiders have themselves a formidable receiving corps. Not much has to go their way, either. If Williams is healthy, Renfrow builds upon last season, Ruggs III adapts well to the NFL and Edwards realizes his potential, the Raiders offense is going to be much more dynamic and potent.

      They aren’t alone, either. The Broncos still aren’t sure how well Jeudy and Hamler are going to perform in the NFL. They have the skillset and potential, but …

    Agree, Ghost and Steve. When Brian Edwards heals and gets acclimated to the NFL the Raiders could have one of the best receivers corps in the league. Edwards is considered by many to be a steal from the draft, having dropped from the second round to the fourth due to injury concerns. Time will tell.

    Wow, the potential depth of talent at receiver across the division really highlights the need for a strong and deep secondary. Our young guys on the corners are going to get tested a lot in the divisional match-ups this year – a real baptism of fire!! Let’s hope they deliver on their potential – fast!
