Jon Gruden should really go back to ’98. Why? James Jett, that’s why. Gruden has long had the template on how to deploy electric rookie wide receiver Henry Ruggs III, and forgive him if it’s on a VHS tape and not in digital format. For it was in the Las Vegas Raiders head coach’s rookie
James Jett. What a perfect last name for a player with that speed.
You hit it on the head with the key difference between Ruggs and Jett. Ruggs has bigger and better hands than Jett. Furthermore, I doubt Jett ran a 4.49 at West Virginia. If he did, that was on a wet field with very long grass. Jett had world class speed, as does Ruggs.
Can Gruden maximize Rugg’s skills and talents? Will Carr be able to do so? As said in Hamlet, “that’s the rub.”
