At some point this season, the Raiders are going to have right offensive tackle Trent Brown back on the field, dominating pass-rushers and clearing running lanes for Josh Jacobs. Next season is another story. Brown is being paid $21.5 million this season, tied with quarterback Derek Carr for the highest salary-cap hit on the Raiders
Sure hope we can get some stability out of Brown this year. It’s a shame if not. Can’t fault Gruden and Mayock. Signing Brown demonstrated the priority and commitment they have to establishing a strong foundation on the OL. But next year there could be two big holes to fill.
Brown doesn’t seem like a guy that values conditioning and the weight room. Not sure how his calf was injured before a practice was conducted in training camp.
Start scouting RT’s for next year’s draft.
Ghost, there was a post on social media showing Brown doing some intense jumping workouts. I also heard that he spent more time working out in the off season than in the past. I am guessing that may have been a source of his injury.
There is a reason that someone with his talent keeps bouncing around the league. I always am skeptical of players that the Pats let go. Belicheck seems to have a good idea about when to offload a player and he let Brown go just after one season.
Michelle, yes I did see those same videos. However, he admitted in interviews that he never worked out before this year. Never worked out? As a lineman?
If we don’t get at least 12 full games where he totally dominates, he needs to be cut or traded by seasons end. I’m hoping he gets back on track and solidifies the right side of our line. The man is an absolute stud at right tackle and should be given every opportunity to showcase his skills. It just depends on why kind of man he is and does Gruden have what it takes to get him motivated to play at an elite level.
