At some point soon, don’t be surprised if Randy Gregory and Aldon Smith find their way on the Raiders roster. That just seems to be the way things work now that former Dallas Cowboys defensive line coach Rod Marinelli is wearing the silver and black. Earlier this season, the Raiders signed defensive linemen Maliek Collins

Marinelli definitely inspires loyalty from former players, as witnessed by the number of former Dallas players.

Irving is physical specimen and was productive when he played. However, that seems eons ago. It will take time for him to get into football shape. I’m not expecting much from him.

I, like Ghost, am not expecting too much from Irving. I do wonder if Carr’s better pocket presence and better ability to extend plays/make plays off script comes from the signing of Mariota.

This may all become immaterial after Gruden sent home the entire starting O-line due to Trent Brown landing on the COVID list. The problem becomes larger if another player on the O-line also lands on the COVID list, or more Raider players are added forcing a delay (or cancellation) of the Tampa game.

While additional testing will occur, the rapid tests are virtually useless because they carry a higher rate of false negatives than false positives. Tonight’s overnight testing will offer results tomorrow morning. This is where we are seeing the inherent weakness in testing. There is no sensitive, highly accurate test available. Most of the available tests lack sensitivity and accuracy. The best available is only 80%. A strep or flu test at your doctor’s office is 98-99% accurate and quite sensitive.
