Having a week off after a tough five-game stretch figured to do wonders for Raiders head coach Jon Gruden’s injury-plagued roster. Just how much remains to be seen, as the status of six players remains uncertain. On the bright side, only wide receiver Bryan Edwards and backup cornerback Keisean Nixon have been declared out for
Would really suck for the Raiders to not have their starting OL. Past experience says that Carr does not handle pressure well (he seems to have done better this year, thus far), so if he starts to take some hits he may revert. I would love to see him keep up his improved play.
I saw on social media somewhere that Trent Brown took off his tracking device? If true, that doesn’t speak well to him taking responsibility for trying to stay healthy. Other players were already fined for not wearing a mask in public, so I really am starting to wonder if the team as an organization is taking the steps to stay healthy seriously. I know Gruden says the team is, but the actions belie that assertion. This virus is no joke and I hope everyone involved in this “outbreak” with the team gets healthy soon.
@Michelle – The axiom has always been never take anything on the internet as being anywhere close to the truth. Anything on social media is nowhere close to the truth. If Trent Brown took off his tracking device, it’s immaterial to contact tracing. You need to ask the infected person where they’ve been, who they mingled with. The device does not give that kind of specificity you need. Also, you can practice safety all day and everyday, and yet contract COVID. It is a contagion to the nth degree. Regarding COVID protocols, the NFL has conveniently overlooked that the number of new cases are increasing at a substantial rate everywhere, LV not excluded. When they test , it is with crossed fingers. The rapid tests have poor sensitivity and accuracy, often returning high false negatives. False positives are fewer. Tests that are less than 95% accurate should be considered to be unreliable when it comes to results. The rapid test the NFL is using is maybe 85% accurate at best. That rapid strep or flu test you get at the doctor’s office is 98% accurate. If the NFL is interested in keeping everyone safe, they wouldn’t be playing a season.
David, agreed and understood. I know social media can be deceptive, hence the “if true.” However, I disagree with the removal of the tracking device argument you make. While correct that contact tracing would be extremely important, the tracking device can assist in that endeavor to more quickly trace who Trent Brown came in contact with during the time in question. For example, did he head down to Stage Door Casino in Vegas? If so, then he may not know every patron there when he was there. Also, my point was more, the taking off of the tracking device was irresponsible. He is supposed to wear it (as I understand it) which makes me wonder what other “rules” he has decided not to follow–again, assuming the report of his removing the device is true.
As always, thank you for your perspective.
