A former Kansas City Chiefs player that jumped ship to the Raiders said of the rivalry that a coach could survive a 2-14 season, provided those two victories came against the Raiders. Such is the hatred between these long-time rivals. That rivalry has been mostly one-sided, with the Chiefs winning five of the past six
Chiefs won’t be looking past the Raiders this time.
Raiders and Guenther can’t run the same defense vs. Mahomes. They have to mix it up and get pressure on Mahomes. With Ferrell out, it’s going to be more difficult. Joyner is also potentially out due to COVID.
Agree, no doubt they wii have schemed around our scheme. So will be interesting to watch whether Guenther can scheme around that in mid-flight. I kind of doubt it, but hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
I can’t imagine the Raiders will be able to sweep the Chiefs. And, wouldn’t you know it that once the Raiders catch the Chiefs the Broncos or Chargers may become the team to beat in the AFC West (typed somewhat facetiously).
The key to the game will be which defense can keep the other defense in check. Would be nice if the Raiders can make a splash in special teams, too!
Both starting tackles for the Chiefs have been placed on the COVID reserve list (close contact), and may not be available on Sunday night. They need to test negative through Sunday morning to come of the list. Since the Chiefs are in a similar situation, would the NFL flex the game into the afternoon? It’s a fair question since they did it to the Raiders for the Bucs game.
Raiders COVID list just blew up. Who knows what we’ll end up with now. Sure hope it’s all contact tracing and we can still come in at near full strength on defense.
@Matt – Ferrell tested positive, everyone else is contact. Provided they test negative through Sunday morning, they should be able to play. The question is whether the NFL will flex the game since it’s the featured Sunday night game. The other question is whether the NFL changes the rules/protocols since it’s the Raiders. They’ve done it before, they’ll do it again.
