With neither being the true bellcow tailback in Alabama’s offense, Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake are two peas in the same pod that way. The pair were running backs on loaded Nick Saban rosters and the by-committee-approach they experienced in college turned out for the best. Both Alabama alumnus are proving halfbacks don’t have to
People complain about the contract given to Drake. Yet, if Jacobs goes down, no one will complain if Drake comes in and produces. Raiders need an equally capable back to go with Jacobs.
It’s like insurance. You don’t like paying the premiums, but glad you have it once something happens.

Yeah people complaining about the contract is funny to me. What is he worth? 2.7mil? Then he can bust out? It’s ridiculous. Perform or don’t, salary doesn’t matter. It’s a fun talking point – I like to say we made a losing QB the highest paid player in history – but it really doesn’t matter.
Ray, you nailed the key issue in your last paragraph.
I’m shocked that Raiders appear to be heading into the new season expecting that between an RT picked in the draft and Brandon Parker they are set with a starter at the right tackle position.
I’m afraid that the single most impactful decision Gruden made in free agency – not to sign a solid veteran RT – will doom Raiders to another loosing season. Carr will be running for his life and, despite Drake addition, the running game production will be below the last year’s mediocre level.
